The Charter Act 1793 or the East India Company Act 1793 was passed by the British Parliament to renew the charter of the East India Company. This act authorized the company to carry on trade with India for the next 20 years. It highlighted that from here onwards, all the political and administrative functions of the Company would be carried out on behalf of the British government.
